Aston Villa’s draw with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium saw Unai Emery start Nicolo Zaniolo over Moussa Diaby,

but he insisted he was creating a team instead of concentrating on only 11 players.

In his ten games for Villa, Zaniolo has not yet scored or assisted a goal.

However, on Thursday night, Villa defeated Legia Warsaw 2-1, and Diaby got the start.

The former Bayer Leverkusen star got off to a quick start at Villa,

participating in six goals in his first seven games.

However, prior to the trip to Bournemouth, he had only scored once in his previous six games.

In the ninetieth minute, he came off the bench to help Villa striker Ollie Watkins,

who won a point on the south coast by turning the ball past Neto with a magnificent header.

Emery was questioned over his choice to bench Diaby in favour of Zaniolo following the draw.

He declared, “It is not rest.” “It’s also because we have a player in Zaniolo,

and we need to give him every chance to play, gain confidence, and accumulate minutes.

“We played today, on Thursday, and two matches the following week, of course.

It’s challenging to use the same starting lineup for those games.

Not totally, but I’m positive we’ll make a change for Wednesday.

“We need to bring in new players and their unique personalities in order to extract more from them.

Moussa received an assist and Leon Bailey scored. We must employ both of their player combinations in various games.

“We need to offer them opportunities and time to settle in. We’re in the process, and after today,

it goes without saying that we played last week and prevailed both at home and at Tottenham.

It is something we must acknowledge and that is the point.

We also need to make an effort to rotate our players. Our goal is to assemble a team, not just 11 guys.

I’ll give everyone an opportunity.

“They need to feel significant and that they are allowed to express their individuality.

We also have to contend with other competitions.”
