Unai Emery has to be considered for the Premier League manager of the year, according to Alan Hutton.

As Villa prepare for their 14th round of games this season,

they are ranked fourth in the standings.Only holders Manchester City (33) have a better score than the Midlands club (31) thus far.

The Villans defeated Legia Warsaw 2-1 at Villa Park on Thursday night, November 30, to also guarantee their spot in the Europa Conference League.

Ange Postecoglou has already won three Premier League manager of the month awards this season,

but Hutton claims that Aston Villa manager Emery is a strong contender for the top prize,

particularly if the Spaniard can secure a top-four finish.

“He will definitely be in the conversation if he finishes where he is right now, in the top four.

“There’s no escaping that,” Hutton responded to a question about Emery’s potential for the manager of the season award from Villa News.

I’ve said a million times how wonderful he is. He is a welcome change of pace.

He puts a lot of effort into everything he does, and the guys on the practice field show it in the games.

Does he embrace danger? Indeed. He plays a high line and costs opposing teams many opportunities,

but he isn’t content to sit back and play defense.

His desire is to go out and win games. They managed to finish it.

“They’ve made a significant turnaround,

and he needs to be considered if they manage to finish in the European rankings following the previous season.”

Villa has 77 points from 38 games since Emery took over as manager on November 1st of last year,

which puts them just two points behind third-place Liverpool and one below the other teams in the top five.

Their 22 Premier League victories this year are a club record, and they rank third for the calendar year.

With 13 home league victories in a row, Villa Park has established itself as a stronghold.

This is their longest winning streak in the Premier League era; their previous record was 13 home victories in the top level in 1983.

With 23 goals in six games this season, they are also the league’s highest scorers at home.
