The Wolverhampton Wanderers are now going through a period of change.

After making it to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Europa League in the 2019–20 season,

the Old Gold are currently fighting it out in the Premier League’s lower half.

After losing players like Willy Boly, Joao Moutinho, Ruben Neves, Raul Jimenez,

and Leander Dendoncker in recent transfer windows,

Wolves’ first season back in the top division under Nuno Espirito Santo has left very few traces.

On the other hand, the board, along with head coach Gary O’Neil,

intends to rebuild the squad so that it can contend for European spots once more.

They have already found a player who may be able to hold down the goal posts for much longer.

The Midlands club is reportedly looking into a deal to sign AZ Alkmaar teenager

Rome Jayden Owusu-Oduro in January for a reported sum of £2 million,

according to reports from The Express and Star earlier this week.

According to the site, Wolves has reportedly made an inquiry about the goalie,

but they are up against competition from a number of other teams, including Anderlecht,

a formidable Belgian team that now sits second in the Jupiler Pro League.

The 19-year-old has been a member of the squad for 28 games since the start

of the last campaign, but he has yet to make his professional debut.

Owusu-Oduro is currently being prevented from making his first-team

debut by former Brighton and Hove Albion and Arsenal goalkeeper Mathew Ryan.

However, The Express and Star also revealed that the Dutch team was hoping to extend his deal,

which is reportedly going to happen, with the teenager set to sign a new contract until 2028.

Owusu-Oduru might be the ideal long-term alternative for first-choice goalkeeper Jose Sa,

and Wolves are eager to entice the young player to Molineux.

Rome Jayden Owusu-Oduru’s stats this season

Sa joined the team in 2021 for a reported £6.8 million to take the place of Rui Patricio,

who left to join Roma during the same transfer window. Before coming to England,

the Portuguese player had never competed in a top-five league,

but he soon established himself as one of the best in the Premier League for his position.
