Legendary Ipswich Town player Mick Mills feels that Vaclav Hladky, the goalie for the Blues,

is the team’s top player most of the time, which is concerning for Kieran McKenna’s defence.

The Tractor Boys’ 12-game winning streak was snapped on Saturday due to a loss against West Bromwich Albion.

Some have expressed concern over Ipswich’s defensive performance in their last five league games,

since they have given up 12 goals in those contests.

Hladky has been one of Ipswich’s finest players this season,

and Mills expressed concern that this suggests the defence is not performing to its full potential.

The former Ipswich great believes that the Blues’ offensive prowess has helped to obscure their defensive shortcomings this season,

contributing to the team’s overall success.

Mills stated on BBC Radio Suffolk, “If you set something up heavily defensively,

that means there should not be any leaks there.”

“The goalie shouldn’t even be seen to the opposition, much less be considered the best player on the field.

“I think Vaclav Hladky has been the greatest player much too often during this kind of championship run.

“I think it has carried over okay because we have a lot of goal scorers and match winners up the other end of the pitch,

so that has been a concern because that tells me that people in front of him are not quite at the top of their game.”

On Wednesday, Ipswich will welcome Millwall to Portman Road in an attempt to recover from their loss to the Baggies under McKenna.

Václav Hladký is a professional football player from the Czech Republic who plays goalkeeping for Ipswich Town in the EFL Championship. He was born on November 14, 1990.
