Wolves aim to bolster two key positions in January

a few days before the new season began,

Gary O’Neil has had an excellent first season as Julen Lopetegui’s replacement.

Everything suggested that Wolves was having serious problems;

important players had left, and O’Neill lacked the former manager’s degree of experience.

All things considered, though, it’s been a pretty promising start,

with O’Neil showcasing his tactical prowess right away and the players all pulling together for him.

However, O’Neill has already stated that the team needs to be strengthened,

and a report has now revealed the positions that will be prioritized.

Journalist Johnny Phillips, a Wolves supporter with strong connections at Molineux,

has written a new column in the Express & Star detailing potential activities for the club in January.

He has proposed that Wolves will target two positions during the upcoming transfer window.

“With very little money available, his squad will not be

dramatically strengthened in January,” he writes.

“A central striker and a winger are the minimum number of forward

players that the recruitment department is trying to bring in.”

He continues by stating that Wolves’ coaches are not convinced by Fabio Silva,

who has had difficulty playing this season and that there is a chance he will leave on loan.

According to earlier reports, O’Neil intends to prioritize an

all-out number nine in January in order to free up more playing time for Matheus Cunha.

Interestingly, Phillips continues in his column that certain foreign

options are currently being “seriously considered.”

At Wolves, two more forwards are in fact needed.

Since Cunha isn’t the clinical finisher O’Neil needs him to be and

Sasa Kalajdzic’s durability is still in doubt, Wolves will undoubtedly need to

sign a new striker in January unless Silva begins to show himself in the upcoming weeks.
