Ipswich Town are joint-top of the Championship and has fired a warning to

Leeds United, CEO of Ipswich Town Mark Ashton has forewarned Leeds United and Leicester City,

two teams vying for promotion, that the Tractor boys will support Kieran McKenna in the January transfer window.

This season’s surprise package in the second division is the recently promoted team, who is vying for promotion back to the Premier League.

When questioned about their January transfer plans, Ashton told the East Anglian Daily Times,

“You’ve got to remember, we’re governed by profit and sustainability rules.”

“We’ll be bold and courageous, but we won’t act carelessly.

“The difference is significant. Kieran is always supported financially. However, Kieran will only sign players who fit his mould.

He won’t simply bring in a player for the stats; that’s not how he rolls.

I’m quite proud of him for being selective.

“The window is constantly in motion; it resembles a spider’s web that essentially shifts every hour.

We walked through it with composure.

We were aware of the critical roles we needed to fill and the critical roles we needed to hold onto to ensure the squad was strong.

Remember that the four players we signed in January of last year were Championship players?

In League One, we were training for the Championship.

The market from which we were hiring then shifted as a result of Championship clubs refusing to do business with us because they now perceive us as possible competitors.

“At the end of the transfer window, we had the financial resources to sign other players, but Kieran made it very plain that he was happy with the squad as it is—it has balance and unity. I had no problem with that.
