Craig Moore, a former Rangers player, thinks Philippe Clement may have a “dangerous” option this season in one of the Ibrox wingers.

The player in question is Rabbi Matondo, who has had an extremely inconsistent season for the Rangers due primarily to injuries.

The 23-year-old was intermittently added back to the Clement’s squad during the hectic holiday season after missing a significant

number of games between September and November.

In the summer of 2022, Giovanni van Bronckhorst signed Matondo for £2.5 million from Schalke 04, and he has undoubtedly been

one of the more polarizing acquisitions in recent memory.

With his rapid speed, the Welshman may be very successful in breaching fortifications. Though he could surely improve on both his

finishing and his ability to beat a full-back more frequently, he can beat one occasionally.

Funnily enough, that’s exactly what Matondo was fine-tuning across the winter break and Clement understands too that area of his game needs developing.

Craig Moore on Rabbi Matondo

When Moore scored the first goal in the Ibrox friendly against FC Copenhagen on Tuesday, there were clear signs of development in

that area. Moore recently spoke positively about the finish on The Go Radio Football Show.

Craig Moore took the game in and was asked for his thoughts on Matondo. He thinks the winger can be a threat for Rangers albeit

needing to be more consistent in his performances when given the chance to shine by Clement, which will be more often now given Abdallah Sima is at AFCON.

Moore said: “It was a very good goal and I’ll tell you, he missed a sitter straight before it. He could have just dinked it over the

goalkeeper, it looked like quite a comfortable finish.

However, it was most likely a few minutes after that (Leon) Balogun wins it in a favorable spot, Matondo is pleasant and upbeat, takes

the half turn, and starts driving toward the opposition.

“As a defender, I was disappointed to see that, but the finish was excellent. When Rabbi Matondo feels confident and plays at a fast

pace, he may be a very dangerous player.

He has been in and out of the game, and his consistency with injuries and consequently his effectiveness are currently the subject of

dispute. However, when that confidence comes through, he can be an extremely dangerous player. He hasn’t been able to maintain that for very long.
