Dailysport news shares Tommy Conway transfer verdict as next Jamie Vardy would cost Rangers’ millions’

Carlton Palmer has offered his verdict on Bristol City striker Tommy Conway, suggesting the forward would cost “millions” to sign amid interest from Rangers and Celtic.

The 21-year-old, who is nearing the end of his Ashton Gate deal,

has scored six goals in 20 Championship games this season and two more in the FA Cup,

both against Premier League opponents West Ham.

Palmer,

a dailysport news pundit,

feels that the Scottish youth international’s development would be best served by staying in the Championship,

but he also believes that signing the forward, who he likens to Jamie Vardy,

would require a substantial financial commitment.

“Celtic, Rangers, Nottingham Forest,

and Wolves are but a few of the clubs monitoring Bristol City’s talented young striker,

Tommy Conway,” he claimed in an interview with Football League World on January 20.

“The Scottish under-21 international has improved his already rising stature

by demonstrating his ability to compete at the highest level in the FA Cup third round by scoring goals in both of his matches against West Ham.

Conway’s style of play has been compared to Jamie Vardy’s; lofty standards indeed.

As we have stated time and time again, as a young player,

you must continue to play in order to further your education and growth.

“It’s difficult to place a value on this young man,

but if he keeps going forward at the way and pace he is now,

we are talking in the millions.”

Millions of

This January, Rangers will need a new number nine,

so it seems sense that they would be linked to a young Scottish player who is thriving south of the border—especially after a couple of strong performances against West Ham.

Conway is one of Bristol City’s most valuable academy assets,

so any potential move would almost certainly be costly—especially with the team trying to make a late run for the playoffs midway through the season.

It remains to be seen if Rangers would be willing to pay a multimillion-pound cost for the 21-year-old in any case,

especially given that he has never played higher the Championship in English football.

It remains to be seen if this transfer becomes more than just the most recent striker linked to a move to Ibrox,

but it may be something to address in the summer rather than this month.
