Dalvin Cook was snagged off the waiver wire by the Ravens and signed to the practice squad back on Jan. 5. He intentionally didn’t

play in Week 18 against the Steelers as he was preparing for the playoffs and learning the Baltimore playbook. The playoffs are here.

And Cook is ready.

Cook knows what the Ravens running backs room has been through this season, and knows his role will be to enhance what Justice

Hill and Gus Edwards have already accomplished this season. “Justice, Gus, everybody in that room are great people, man,” Cook said.

“I’m just looking to come add who Dalvin Cook is, just a little flavor to it. “Those guys have been productive all year. You have to give

credit to those guys. They’ve been grinding all year, but I’m just looking to come add a little flavor, add a couple more plays to help this

organization win.”

Curiously, Cook will wear No. 31 in the purple, gold and black. Fans will remember another running back who donned the “31” and

had a little bit of success – Jamal Lewis. Cook said he spoke with Lewis prior to selecting the number and received his blessing. Back

when he was with the Vikings, Cook had four straight seasons of 1,000 yards or more on the ground but was used meagerly in New

York this year before asking for his release. Now, after being with the team for over a month, Cook feels like he’s got a good grasp on

the playbook and the direction the Ravens are heading.

“In the playoffs, everything rises up like the intensity,” Cook stated. Everything comes to light, but for me, it was all about studying the

playbook well because I want to be able to play freely outside. I just want to be myself, get out there and perform.”You have to be at

ease in your work in order to handle that. For me, it was significant to take that week off and thoroughly study the playbook.” At 4:30

p.m. ET, the Ravens and Texans take the field from M&T Bank Stadium. Live game updates and all pre- and post-game coverage will

be available on RavenCountry.com.
