Rangers ‘have interest’ in Hearts top scorer as reports reveal deal ‘could be done’

Glasgow Rangers are reportedly serious about Hearts’ Lawrence Shankland and are

aiming to add a striker to their roster before the transfer window closes.

Shankland, a Scotland international, has stayed in the capital despite the fact that Rangers and Celtic are

rumored to be preparing bids for the 18-goal striker.

The Jambos striker has had an incredible season for the Edinburgh club,

but he was strongly tipped to leave this month.

But according to a new report from Sky Sports’ Mark Benstead,

the Ibrox club is clearly interested in the midfielder.

The report suggests that if the Glasgow giants were to move forward with a transfer in January,

it would be very easy to close a deal.

“Rangers still want to bring in a forward player and

there is interest in Lawrence Shankland of Hearts,” stated Benstead. “If that were to occur,

I’m informed that the numbers involved wouldn’t be insurmountable and that it could be completed easily.

However, they might need to free up some cash first and come to an agreement that he is the best player to pursue.

“While there is a lot of enthusiasm among Rangers,

there are also skeptics who believe they should pursue someone else.

He continued, “They can’t drag their heels in too much because

they also need to be aware that Hearts will need to bring in a successor.

To guarantee the future of the league’s best goal scorer,

the Tynecastle team has extended a fresh contract offer to Shankland, who has been holding out on a transfer.

“As of today, we’ve had no interest, either formally or informally,

expressed in Lawrence, and we are not encouraging any interest in Lawrence,”

Hearts CEO Andrew McKinlay told HeartsTV in response to the new contract offer.
