Aston Villa window explodes into life with triple swoop advancing; one medical booked, two offers made

According to numerous reliable sources, Aston Villa is getting close to making three different January signings: a right-back’s medical

Unai Emery’s team has so far had a low-key winter window, but that is about to change. The teams vying for the Premier League title

are in the process of finalizing a contract involving right-back Kosta Nedeljkovic.

The 18-year-old plays defense for Red Star Belgrade of Serbia, and TEAMtalk exclusively disclosed on Tuesday that the defender and

Villa had reached a personal terms agreement.

Highly regarded and a fixture for Serbia’s Under-19 national team, Nedeljkovic is expected

to fetch Red Star a fee of about £6.8 million.

A scheduled medical has been scheduled for today (Friday), according to a report from David Ornstein

of the Athletic on Friday morning.

This transfer window, Aston Villa and Emery have prioritized acquiring younger players, and according to Ornstein and Fabrizio

Romano, bids for two more up-and-coming players have been submitted.

Ornstein added Villa have made an offer for versatile Middlesbrough forward, Morgan Rogers.

The right-footed 21-year-old is capable of playing on either wing, but this season, he has established himself as the attacking

midfielder. This season, in 31 games across all competitions, he has six goals and eight assists.

Rogers is said to be “excited” about the chance to join the Premier League’s top tea

and was named Villa’s top transfer target this month.

Villa’s approach, which was really their second for Rogers, was subsequently rejected, TEAMtalk understands.

Though with Emery and Rogers both keen on a deal being struck, a third offer is not out of the question.

Rogers was previously on the books at Manchester City and has represented England at various youth levels.

Elsewhere, Fabrizio Romano broke news of Villa bidding for 22-year-old goalkeeper, Hakon Valdimarsson.

The five-cap Iceland international plays for Swedish side Elfsborg where he is their regular starter.

Romano revealed Villa as well as Danish side Copenhagen have both bid for Valdimarsson.

Villa’s bid (in excess of €2m) is higher than Copenhagen’s (€1.7m).

Neither of the bids have been accepted as yet, though the fact Villa’s is higher obviously gives them an edge.

One factor that must be considered, however, is the fact Valdimarsson will know he’ll not be a regular starter at Villa Park given the

presence of Emiliano Martinez.
