Fabrizio Romano Update on Reported Celtic Target

This January, Celtic appears to be involved in the goalkeeping market. Both Caoimhin Kelleher of Liverpool and Hakon Valdimarsson, a promising stopper

from Iceland, have been linked.

The latter just finished his 2023 season with Elfsborg in the Swedish premier league, making him a regular for the team. Although early in the week he was

connected to the Hornets, bids for Valdimarsson have since been made, according to Fabrizio Romano.

It is said that Premier League outfit Aston Villa have offered more than two million euros for the 22-year-old whilst Copenhagen have made a bid of around

1.7 million euros. Romano claims, however, that nothing has been done yet because there are several clubs interested in the services of Valdimarsson.

Given prior reports, one imagines the Scottish champions are one of those but if they must go up against some notable clubs to secure the services of the

player, then a deal could be tough to strike.

There is no getting away from the fact, though, that Brendan Rodgers needs a long-term replacement for Joe Hart between the sticks.

Whether someone is signed to take the place of the treble-winner now or in the summer, they must be up to the standard and be an improvement on the 36-

year-old veteran.
