According to rumors, Aston Villa has entered what is fast becoming into a crowded contest to lure Giovanni Reyna away from Borussia Dortmund.

Reyna has only played for Borussia Dortmund at the senior level thus far, but that might be about to change. ESPN recently reported

that he was “determined” to leave the Bundesliga team due to his inability to get into the starting lineup.

Claudio, Reyna’s father, and Jorge Mendes, her agent, are already searching for teams that

might be able to give the 21-year-old the next level.

It was claimed that Borussia Dortmund might let him to go for €15 million (£12.9 million) or that a loan

from them might be his next move.
Reyna’s services were reportedly being offered to Wolves, Nottingham Forest, Marseille, Monaco, Lyon, Real Sociedad, Sevilla,

Villarreal, and Benfica at the time.

However, according to a Football Transfers update, Aston Villa has shown interest in the USMNT player on their own.

Furthermore, it seems that Villa contacted Dortmund to inquire about a deal rather than Dortmund making an offer for Reyna.

It is purported that Reyna’s transfer fees have been questioned by Monchi’s transfer staff. Reyna is only contracted in Germany

through the end of the following season.

Reyna’s possible availability has given Villa hope, particularly in light of Dortmund’s decision

to reacquire Jadon Sancho from Manchester United on loan.

Reyna can play on either wing or in a central attacking midfield position. On one hand, it has led to him failing to nail down a role of

his own for Dortmund. On the other hand, it means he could be useful to Villa in a number of ways.

Could Reyna replace Emery outcast Traore?

Unai Emery will still desire a robust roster as his team gets ready for a second half of the season that will entail contending for a top-

four finish and participating in the Europa Conference League knockout round.

He has freely acknowledged that he is prepared to let go of Bertrand Traore, which could create a gap that he could replace with a

more trustworthy candidate.

Reyna could theoretically join to bolster the ranks following his 119 appearances and 17 goals for Dortmund.
