Steven Naismith drops update on Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland amid Rangers links
Lawrence Shankland, a striker for Hearts who has been linked to a move to Rangers, has been questioned by Steven Naismith.
On January 17, Football Scotland revealed that he was in talks to sign a lucrative contract, but he had not yet done so.
Although Naismith has confirmed that the team wants to keep the 28-year-old on staff, he has not given a definitive
commitment to stay past the January transfer window.
“We want to keep Shanks,” he declared. We shall use every effort as a team to retain Shanks. He is adored by many in
this place. All are in favor of him staying.
“We’re not looking to sell him.”
Hope exists.
Rangers shouldn’t automatically give up on these dynamics because player decisions are subject to a variety of influences, as Naismith points out in his article.
Shankland could still be a possibility for Gers to sign if they start talking to the striker.
The 28-year-old’s future might not be completely resolved despite Hearts’ new contract offer, particularly if Rangers
are able to make a compelling bid.
It’s reasonable to presume that, given his age, this will be his final major contract and that he will have a far better
salary and the opportunity to compete for trophies in Glasgow.
Gers can determine the Scotland international’s level of interest and whether he would be amenable to a move by
having talks with him straight away.
There is always opportunity for negotiation and persuasion, so players should maintain open lines of contact and
attempt to provide a proposal that is in line with Shankland’s goals until they formally commit to a new contract.
