Rangers “media speculations” raise doubts over £5.1m Croatian midfielder pursuit

Rangers links to Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Marko Bulat have been put down to “media speculations” in the Croatian press.

According to reports in Scotland, Rangers has already inquired about the 22-year-old Croatian midfield player,

citing a €6 million (£5.1 million) asking price.

It coincides with Rangers’ aggressive January squad-building efforts as Philippe Clement’s team attempts to launch a credible title threat in the second half of the season.

However, new sources from Croatia have severed the connections,

stating that any indication of Rangers’ interest in Marko Bulat is still a long way off from a completed trade.
Marko Bulat on “media speculations” regarding Rangers

According to an article published on page 24 of the Croatian newspaper Vecernji List on January 17, 24,

those Ibrox transfer links are likewise “not close to being realised.”

As of right now, Rangers’ connection to Marko Bulat is merely “media speculations,”

the newspaper asserts in an article examining the most valuable players in the Croatian First League.

This comes after the publication covered the circumstances surrounding Hadjuk Split star Rokas Pukstas and Dinamo wonderkid Martin Baturina.

Here is a sample of the report:

“The slightly older Marko Bulat (22 years old) is mentioned in relation to six million euros in compensation and Glasgow Rangers,

but these are merely media rumours that are far from coming to pass at this time.

“This comes after Graeme Bailey,

a seasoned transfer journalist, informed us that he “hadn’t heard” of any interest in Marko Bulat,

without going so far as to deny the connections.

Rangers searching for Zagreb’s Dinamo A midfielder from Croatia?

Even if the Rangers may have contacted Marko Bulat over those first claims,

it doesn’t seem like an Ibrox agreement is even close to being finalised.

A January move was always improbable due to the transfer fee associated with the 22-year-old midfield player,

who has made 23 appearances and scored five goals for Dinamo this season.

Rangers may consider this in the summer

but supporters will be alarmed by reports that the Croatian U21 international might fetch more than £5 million.

Dado Prso, Nikica Jelavic,

Niko Kranjcar, and Nikola Katic are just a few of the Croatian players who have a long history of playing for Rangers at the Ibrox.

It’s interesting to note that, as his contract at Ibrox expires, the team’s resident Croatian star,

Borna Barisic, has also been highly connected to a return to Dinamo Zagreb and the Balkans.
