REPORT: Dallas Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones Makes Sweeping Change; Secret Bidding War With Eagles Coming?

Jones had to cancel a crucial gig this week due to his atypically busy schedule.

Shan Sariff of 105.3 The Fan reports that on Tuesday, Jerry and Stephen Jones decided not to appear during their regular radio slot.

Even though Jerry and Stephen aren’t required to go on the radio show when the Cowboys’ season concludes, they typically discuss it.

It will be interesting to watch Jones’ decision to alter his media appearance this week in light of the rumours surrounding

Mike McCarthy’s future and the likelihood that the Cowboys would sign Bill Belichick.

Jones dismissed the team on Monday. On Tuesday, he needs to start moving forward with head coaching.

The Eagles are linked to Bill Belichick too

There are other NFC East teams connected to Belichick besides the Cowboys.

After Monday night’s loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Mike Florio of NBC Sports claims that the Eagles may be able to

move on from Nick Sirianni provided they can contain Belichick.

An unmistakable undercurrent remains that a change isn’t out of the question, if things continue to go poorly against the

Bucs. The key could be the availability of Bill Belichick.

Just like in Dallas, where Belichick would be an upgrade over Mike McCarthy, the Eagles could decide to swap out the guy

who got to one Super Bowl to the guy who got to nine, and who won six.

It could be that the Eagles don’t want Sirianni to freak out in advance of Monday night’s game. It could be that they wouldn’t

make a change unless they were 100 percent certain they’d get Belichick.

This offseason, there’s only one Belichick to go around. The Eagles and Cowboys do not have the luxury of publicly

announcing that they had interviewed Belichick, whereas the Falcons have already sacked their coach.

The only reason the Eagles and Cowboys seem to be considering replacing their head coach is if they can bring in Belichick

this offseason and improve.

They don’t want to draw attention to themselves by approaching Belichick since that would be detrimental to their existing head coach.

There may be a covert bidding war between two fierce NFC East rivals this week in the NFL if the reports and rumours about

the Eagles and Cowboys seeking Belichick are true.

If the Eagles or Cowboys can persuade Belichick to join their sideline, the intricacies of such a bidding war will make for an

entertaining read.
