Brendan Rodgers’ next January transfer priority-report

Now that Nicolas Kuhn is in Glasgow finalizing his move to Celtic, the club’s focus is on Brendan Rodgers’ next top target to

sign.

Yesterday, the German winger finished his physical before moving from Rapid Vienna. This was done in London prior to his

trip up north to complete a long-term contract with the Scottish champions.

It’s estimated that the 24-year-old, who formerly played for Ajax and Bayern Munich, will cost the Hoops about £3 million plus

add-ons.

In Sunday’s Scottish Cup fourth-round matchup against Highland League underdogs Buckie Thistle, Kuhn might be ready to

play.

With the winger almost in the building, Brendan Rodgers, who has taken a more hands-on approach to recruitment this

January, is looking to secure a striker to help ease the burden on Kyogo up top.

The Daily Record reports this is now his priority, with a number of loan options being investigated by the club’s recruitment

team, which is led by Mark Lawwell.

Numerous attackers from Premier League teams have been investigated.

If a deal to sign a striker was right this month, Celtic would buy, but a loan is the more likely course of action.

With Oh and Daizen Maeda presently overseas for Asian Cup duty with South Korea and Japan, respectively, Kyogo is the only

recognized striker for the club.

The attacking pair’s international assignment may keep them away until February, contingent on how well their country

performs.

Apart from a striker, Rodgers is also keeping a careful eye on a left-back, with Alexandro Bernabei reportedly available should

any offers come in.

Thiago Araunjo of Estoril is still a target, although Owen Beck of Liverpool, who made an impression during the first part of

the season when on loan at Dundee, has been linked to a move.

The report also adds that a goalkeeper remains a long-term aim for Celtic. Two names mentioned are Andriy Lunin and

Elfsborg’s Icelandic No. 1 Hakon Valdimarsson.
