Doig transfer in equilibrium

Josh Doig’s planned £4.3 million move to Marseille is in jeopardy after Hellas Verona

faltered in their pursuit of the player in response to a competing offer from a Serie A opponent.

When news of Sassuolo’s last-minute attempt to sabotage the agreement surfaced on Friday,

the Scotland Under-21 star had all but agreed to team up with Rino Gattuso at the Ligue 1 giants.

Doig is rumoured to be set on moving to France,

but Verona wants to sell to their fellow Italians because Marseille is now threatening to back out of the agreement, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

Hibs are closely monitoring the situation because they are still owed a portion of Doig’s initial transfer fee

in addition to 27.5% of any proceeds from the sell-on,

which is probably going to come to about £1.5 million.

Rangers waiting to transfer

Rangers might have to wait until the summer to sign their top targets,

according to Philippe Clement. After finishing a loan from Wolves,

Fabio Silva is the only new player to join in January so far.

The Belgian head coach anticipates more players to sign before the window closes,

but he acknowledges that there might be better deals available in the off-season.

“To find the right players who can add something extra to the squad,

that is what everyone is working hard for,” Clement stated.

That’s why January is typically a challenging month,

but everyone at the club is trying extremely hard to get players here.

As everyone is expecting and working hard, so am I.

I’m not sure how much it would cost because I know from experience that you can never get everything you desire.

Clubs like Rangers are not able to achieve it;

perhaps the wealthiest teams in the world can.

Although it’s easier in the summer, we’ll try our best to make it as excellent as we can during this time.”

Celtic wants to sign an EPL goalkeeper

Caoimhin Kelleher, the custodian for Liverpool, has been linked to Celtic.

Despite making 12 appearances for the Reds this season, primarily in the Europa League and League Cup,

the Republic of Ireland international is lagging behind Alisson for the starting shirt.

The Sun claims that Kelleher is one of Celtic’s transfer targets.

Should the 25-year-old insist on leaving Anfield,

the Scottish champions may be prepared to make a bid in the summer. Joe Hart,

the starting goalie for Celtics right now,

turns 37 in April and has just five months left on his deal.

Update from Major Kuhn to Celtic

According to sources, Celtic’s pursuit of Nicolas Kuhn, a winger for Rapid Vienna,

has advanced significantly as the two teams have reportedly struck an agreement on a £3 million deal.

The 24-year-old has reportedly verbally agreed to terms on a contract that will last until the summer of 2028,

according to Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph.

He will travel to Glasgow on Monday to finalise the deal after having a medical examination in London.

The former Germany youth international will join Celtic as their first new player of the January transfer window.

A left-back and a striker are reportedly other positions the team is looking to fill.

Old Firm is up against it for a striker.

Should Rangers or Celtic want to pursue the Leeds United forward this month,

they will have competition from other teams for Joe Gelhardt.

The 21-year-old has been linked to both Old Firm clubs during the January transfer window,

but West Bromwich Albion, Preston North End, and Blackburn Rovers have also entered the race,

according to transfer journalist Alan Nixon.

With just six league games under Daniel Farke,

Gelhardt has struggled for playing time in the Championship despite making his Premier League debut as a teenager.

Rangers want to sign a championship left-back

Cameron Pring of Bristol City is apparently being eyed by Rangers.

According to a report in The Sun,

Philippe Clement is looking to expand his options ahead of Ridvan Yilmaz’s anticipated exit,

and the Ibrox giants are reportedly considering a January transfer for

the Championship left-back amid interest from Italy.

Pring is regarded as one of the top players in the English football second division at his position.
