Ravens John Harbaugh Offers Update On Mark Andrews’ Impending Return

It was believed that tight end Mark Andrews of the Baltimore Ravens would not play again

this season after suffering an ankle injury in Week 11 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

This eliminated him from the regular season,

but there was a sliver of hope that #89 might play again if Baltimore could go deep into the playoffs.

when all, there is now more than a ray of hope when Andrews was spotted this week on the practice pitch.

John Harbaugh, the head coach of the Ravens,

isn’t hurrying to get his talented tight end on the field, though.

Following Andrews’ return, Harbaugh stated, “I think we’re on the same timetable that we were on.”

“We’re in that range, but we just did individual [drills] today,

which was the first day. From there, it kind of ramps up, and by next week, we’ll have a better idea.”

Therefore, the fact that Andrews is even practicing for the Ravens is a huge plus.

Individual reps are one thing, though, and participating in a Divisional Playoff game is quite another.

Thanks to the performance of second-year tight end Isaiah Likely,

who replaced Andrews and finished with 411 receiving yards and five touchdowns,

Baltimore has managed to function admirably without Andrews.

Though the Ravens are wary of using their All-Pro tight end,

Harbaugh said the locker room experienced a surge of excitement upon learning that he will be practicing.

“Mark has everyone excited,” Harbaugh remarked.

“Everyone is happy for Mark because they see him in the weight room, meetings, and training room every day.

They also kind of knew that he was practicing.”

“You always hope to see one of the brothers back in the field, carrying out their passion.”

The Ravens, who are favoured to win the AFC, will receive a bye in the Wild Card Round,

giving Andrews one extra week of preparation as he gets ready to make a comeback.

Without include the Week 18 defeat to Pittsburgh due to a number of starters being down,

Baltimore was 6-0 without Andrews.

It would be extremely beneficial to have him back in the starting lineup for the start of the playoffs.

The Ravens were strong going into the postseason, and with an All-Pro tight end returning,

things can only get better for Baltimore.
