President now affirms Liverpool’s interest in the £1.5 million transaction that Rangers missed out on.
After Rangers were rumored to be interested in signing the Colombian international defender last year, Liverpool and Brighton of the Premier League are now vying for his signature.

After joining for £1.5 million from Santa Fe last summer, Kevin Mantilla is already drawing interest from teams
much further up the football hierarchy. If Mantilla’s name seems strangely familiar to you Rangers fans, it’s likely
because the much sought-after 20-year-old was said to be heading to Ibrox over a year ago. However, he ended up
bringing his exceptional skills to Talleres, who were second in the top flight of Argentina in 2023.
Furthermore, Philippe Clement’s team would have plenty of competitors if Rangers decided to rekindle their interest
a year later.
Not with Fassi revealing, in conversation with La Voz, that Mantilla is getting attention from a real European
behemoth like Liverpool, and a Brighton team with a formidable track record of securing some of the game’s greatest
up-and-coming talent.
Former Rangers target is now connected to Liverpool
Fassi acknowledges, “It’s true that Brighton and Liverpool have been following him for the past four months.” “And
they requested details regarding his physical records from us.”
There aren’t any present plans to capitalize on Mantilla, according to Fassi.
Ultimately, he is just a few months into a contract that extends until 2027. That position might change, though, if
Talleres is given the opportunity to turn a healthy profit and put their Premier League wealth to good use by
Liverpool or Brighton.
One more Brighton steal?
In recent years, Brighton has regularly and frequently with great success invaded the South American market.
