Following his move to Ibrox, the Rangers player Cristiano Ronaldo revealed his preferred position,

and Fabio Silva revealed that he looked up to him.

When Silva joined the Light Blues on loan from Wolves for the second half of the season,

he became the first player signed by Philippe Clement in Glasgow history.

He made his debut in the team’s victory over Kilmarnock prior to the winter break, coming off the bench.

The Portuguese talent has acknowledged that he is not a pure number nine and

has said that he looks up to and wants to emulate Ronaldo.

There has been much discussion on where the jewel would prefer to play at Ibrox.

He stated, as cited by the Rangers Review on January 12, “Obviously, Cristiano Ronaldo.

I think the greatest example I can draw from his games is how hungry he is to score;

it’s something exceptional.

The calibre of young players nowadays means that if you give up or don’t strive to improve from yesterday,

you will fall behind and remain in the shadows in both football and life.

I give the Ronaldo example for this reason.

He always strives to be the best and to outperform himself from the previous day.

“After that, events unfold organically. For me, it’s the same.

I keep going, trying to better myself than I was yesterday, and eventually things just flow.

I don’t consider myself a’truly really No.9′ because I prefer to move and

swap positions with other players rather than staying still in the box.

I dislike being “No, No.9” and staying in the box.

I enjoy moving deep, playing one-twos, making relationships with players, and switching positions.

Being a dynamic player, I enjoy shifting positions throughout the match.

Ronaldo of the Rangers

Rangers have enjoyed a respectable first half of the season considering

the rocky start under the guidance of Michael Beale.

But the Light Blues are eager to get going again and step it up after

the winter break in order to reclaim the Premiership.

The Light Blues will need a few more real quality pieces between

now and the end of the campaign in order to accomplish that.

Silva has the potential to make a significant impact on the race for

the championship even if he may not be an obvious number nine.

It’s obvious that he has a great mindset. His appreciation for Ronaldo stems not from

his extraordinary technical prowess but more from his ability to

maximise his unique qualities and consistently develop.

His presence at Ibrox for the second half of the season will be

extremely beneficial if he possesses any portion of that mindset.

Silva has a winner’s mindset, even though he hasn’t won much yet,

and Clement wants winners on his side.
