Miami Dolphins owner reportedly behind stunning offer to keep Michigan Wolverines coach Jim Harbaugh away from NFL

Many in the NFL had assumed Jim Harbaugh will return to the team

after winning a national title for the Michigan Wolverines football programme.

But in the face of interest from several teams, one owner is attempting to put an end to it.

A top contender for openings with the Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders,

Harbaugh has been eyeing an NFL return for years.

It has also been suggested that he could become the next head coach of the Washington Commanders.

It is not unexpected that NFL teams are interested in Harbaugh.

The head coach of the Michigan Wolverines was a finalist for the 2022 coaching position

with the Minnesota Vikings and the vacant position with the Denver Broncos last summer,

even before he won the national championship.

It’s not the only offer Harbaugh has reportedly received from the Wolverines’ athletic department.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network also reported that the Wolverines’ coach received a short-term offer,

which includes a rare NFL clause for the 2024 season.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network also said that the Wolverines’ coach received a short-term contract,

which included a unique NFL clause for the 2024 season.

It is obvious why Ross wants to prevent Harbaugh from playing in the NFL.

Ross does not want Harbaugh to be the head coach of the Dolphins going forward,

with Mike McDaniel firmly in place. Rather,

the owner of the Dolphins wants Harbaugh to stay at his alma mater.

Ross was born in Michigan and has supported his alma school for many years.

Following more than 40 years of generous donations totaling hundreds of millions of dollars,

Michigan renamed its business school the Stephen M. Ross School of Business.

Michigan is in a strong position to present Harbaugh

with a proposition that exceeds any financial offer he receives from NFL teams

thanks to his financial backing and the pledges of other supporters.
