The Lions-Rams wild card game viewing party at Emagine theatres is shut down by the NFL.

The Lions-Rams wild card game viewing party at Emagine theatres is shut down by the NFL.

The Detroit Lions vs. Los Angeles Rams wild card game viewing party,

which was set to begin on Sunday at 8 p.m.,

was cancelled on Thursday by Emagine Entertainment.

Following its intervention to prevent a local Detroit realtor from hosting a Matthew Stafford jersey swap,

the NFL has intervened once more to prevent another fan event.

The eight theatres in the Metro Detroit area—

Royal Oak, Rochester Hills, Novi, Canton Township, Saline, and Woodhaven—

as well as the Riviera in Farmington Hills and the Quality 10 in Saginaw—

will be providing free admission to the game for fans.

“At the request of the NFL,

Emagine is prohibited from hosting its planned viewing party at our locations,”

the company shared on numerous of its social media pages to convey the news.

We regret any inconvenience caused to our guests.Enthusiasts had to purchase tickets for the show,

which were available at box offices in theatres on a first-come,

first-served basis up to eight tickets per group. At halftime,

theatres were scheduled to give away freebies,

and visitors were expected to have access to exclusive drink and food deals.

There are many intriguing plots in Sunday’s wild card game at Ford Field,

but the main one is that Matthew Stafford will play in his first game back in Detroit

since being traded to the Rams in 2021 for Jared Goff and a few draft selections.

Not only will it be the Lions’ first playoff game at home since 1993,

but it will also be the first in Detroit in almost 70 years.

Emagine has hosted viewing parties for football before;

they did so just this past Monday.

Watching the CFP National Championship between No. 1 Michigan and No. 2 Washington, Emagine

and a number of other local theatres partnered with the Theatre Sports Network of Salt Lake City.
