Joe Flacco will likely face Texans’ starting edge rushers who missed all or most of the Browns’ Xmas Eve victory

Cleveland Browns quarterback Joe Flacco throws a pass in the first half against the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium.

Joe Flacco will likely face Texans’ starting edge rushers who missed all or most of the Browns’ Xmas Eve victory

Coach DeMeco Ryans bemoaned the fact that his defence allowed Joe Flacco

all day to throw after the Browns‘ decisive 36-22 victory against the Texans on Christmas Eve.

He hopes to remedy that during Saturday’s wild card game.

A club record 265 receiving yards,

including a 53-yard reception on the first play,

and a 75-yard touchdown pass were recorded by Amari Cooper,

while quarterback Joe Flacco passed for 368 yards and three touchdowns.

Plus, he caught a 7-yard touchdown pass.

With the two starting edge rushers for the Texans on the field this game,

it will be simpler to apply the heat.

With a sprained ankle, Jonathan Greenard,

who leads the team in sacks with 12.5,

exited the game early and hasn’t returned to action.

With seven sacks, first-round selection Will Anderson Jr. ranks second on the club.

However, he missed his second straight game against the Browns due to an ankle ailment.

Though they were listed as questionable,

both players are likely to play after making a limited comeback to practice on Thursday

following absences on Tuesday and Wednesday.

With four straight games in which he has thrown for 300 yards,

Flacco isn’t too worried about how Ryans will alter things up.

“We have a plan,

and as long as we follow it,

everything else will fall into place.

There are other ways to put pressure on the quarterback in this league,

where a lot of games revolve on that strategy, ” Flacco stated on Tuesday.

Do you use your front in that way?

Do you bring linebackers or secondary players for that purpose?

So let’s wait and see.

Since my arrival,

the performance of our offensive line has been excellent.

“If you’re on top of your game,

teams will occasionally try to put pressure on you, and that usually leads to opportunities.

“In the first encounter,

Flacco was not fired, while Dorian Thompson-Robinson,

who took Flacco’s place in the fourth quarter, was fired once.

When the two top edge rushers return, the Browns won’t make any changes.
