NBA’s L2M Report Only Adds Frustration to Raptors Loss

After losing to the Los Angeles Lakers 132-131 on Tuesday night, the Toronto Raptors had nothing to complain about, according to the NBA’s Last Two Minute report.

There were only two bad calls in the last two minutes of Tuesday’s game, and both should have been against the Raptors, according to the NBA.

According to the league, the first erroneous call was a non-call that ought to have fined Scottie Barnes for initiating unlawful contact with Austin Reaves through an illegal screen.

An offensive foul would have been called as a result.

The only other call that went wrong was a non-call that occurred a few seconds later when Anthony Davis lost the ball due to RJ Barrett making improper contact with him.

Reaves’s contact with Barnes on Toronto’s attempted game-winning layup was deemed lawful since,

Reaves “maintains verticality and absorbs the contact” from Barnes’ layup attempt, according to the league.

The NBA determined that Barrett’s illegal screen did not provide a legitimate screening position on Davis.

Barrett is a forward from Canada. After review, the league determined that Davis’ flip on the play did not satisfy the requirements for a flopping violation “because his movement is in the direction of his initial path given the contact.”

After the game, Toronto’s coach Darko Rajaković was furious and referred to the refereeing as “outrageous” due to the Lakers’ 23 to 2 advantage in free throws during the fourth quarter.

“What transpired this evening is really ridiculous. It is shameful. Disgrace to the umpires.

Shame on the league for allowing this,” Rajaković stated after the match.

Rajaković said that if the referees were going to tip the game so much in Los Angeles’ favor, the Raptors shouldn’t have bothered to come.

“Tonight, they came to win? Please inform us if that is the case so we won’t attend the game,” he stated. Just hand them the victory.

However, it was unfair tonight.
