Enzo Maresca Before Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall makes his comeback from injury,

Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca has stated that Dennis Praet is

still the best choice to partner him in the midfield.

Praet only participated in the season’s first three games before

sustaining a serious back injury that has sidelined him for three months.

He has resumed training over the past week, though, and following the international break,

he should be back in the lineup.

In the advanced midfield positions, Praet has been referred to

by Maresca as City’s “most technical” operator, and he continues to hold that position.

Wilfred Ndidi has most frequently started alongside

Dewsbury-Hall since his injury, but Ricardo Pereira,

Cesare Casadei, and even Yunus Akgun have also been selected there.

The homegrown midfielder, who has six assists so far and has

created 45 opportunities for his teammates, third in the Championship

behind Norwich’s Gabriel Sara and Ipswich left-back Leif Davis,

is also regarded by the manager as City’s most improved player and is

developing into a natural in what he calls the “pocket” position.

Without a doubt, Maresca stated, “I still believe that Praet is

the most pocket player with Kiernan.” They are able to maneuver in confined areas,

but they still have room to grow in that area.

“Kiernan is most likely the player who has improved the most since we started,

in my opinion. He has the composure that type of player needs right now.

“At the beginning, he was full of responsibility because he’s from the

academy and after relegation, these things. After the first international break,

he calmed down, and now, if you’re watching the game as a fan,

it’s a pleasure to watch Kiernan and see how calm he is.

“He’s always giving the pass, getting assists. Unfortunately for him,

his team-mates, they miss many goals, but otherwise 10 or 15 assists already.”

Ricardo began his career at Middlesbrough in the advanced midfield role,

but Maresca will likely need to have at least one of Ndidi, Yunus,

or Praet fit to play against Watford in City’s next match.

Ricardo will probably need to return to his usual position,

partnering Hamza Choudhury deeper in midfield with Harry Winks suspended.
