Fabrizio Romano claimed that Hannibal Mejbri,

a Manchester United player, had already made a “clear”

decision to join Sevilla, thus Everton’s last-

ditch attempt to get him created a “special situation.”

The transfer specialist revealed to GiveMeSport on January 9 that the 20-year-old had discussed moves to Freiburg and Lyon with three clubs,

but  had turned them down.

The Toffees then contacted his representatives and the Old Trafford team to offer an alternative.

Romano says there is a “possibility” that the Tunisian would go on loan to Goodison Park,

but the player’s team is still debating the idea.

There is a chance that Mejbri joins Everton,” stated Romano.

He is deliberating with his operatives to determine the optimal course of action.

It’s a unique circumstance because he made the decision to join Sevilla last Friday and Saturday after speaking with Freiburg,

Lyon, and Sevilla.

Accordingly,

the player was ready to execute his decision in accordance with the timetable of the Man Utd and Sevilla negotiations.

On the player’s end, it was evident that Sevilla was his preference. A few hours later,

Everton entered the contest and made contact with Man United

and the player’s representatives.

Arriving late for the celebration

It appears that the Toffees may have been taken off guard and

only just grasped the situation before it was wrapped up in La Liga,

if  Mejbri was available.

It may have been necessary to take action on that front initially since Sean Dyche’s team will need to let go of one of its present loanees, with Arnaut

Danjuma expected to depart rather than Jack Harrison.

The Goodison manager will have to hope that he still has a chance to win and that his team’s last-minute intervention wasn’t too late.

Mejbri’s decision to travel to Spain was so obvious that there had to be interest in taking a detour to Merseyside, or else the initial agreement would

have likely been completed by now.

However, if the young player has given his consent to Sevilla,

it would be tough to revoke, so Everton will undoubtedly need to make a strong case to sign him.

There is still plenty of time in the window, but it could get tighter if the situation persists because less time can be spent on a substitute if he chooses

to remain with his original option.
