Ten Days Into the Transfer Window: We’re Running Out of Time and Crossing Our Fingers
We haven’t signed anyone as of now, ten days
into the transfer window.
Yosuke Ideguchi, who left Celtic on a permanent
deal to join Japanese Champions Vissel Kobe—
the team actually made a little profit on the
player—and other players, including Gustaf
Lagerbielke and Alexandro Bernabei, appear to
be leaving on a temporary basis.
Is the club simply cleaning house before we
make any commitments to prospective new
members? Hopefully, as we are lacking in
numbers, particularly up front, with five players
of our team serving overseas.
Naturally, we still have three weeks to negotiate
any deals, so patience is required.
However, given our board’s seeming indifference
to incomings, it seems sense that people are getting antsy.
I wouldn’t consider the lack of significant
connections to be a reason for alarm because we
hardly ever, if ever, provide the media with
updates on our transfer targets.
But the truth is that we still need fresh faces on
our team—and good ones, at that.
Hopefully, we are putting in a lot of effort behind
the scenes to bring in the necessary players.
Because pressure will build up on the board if
the opportunity closes and we haven’t added
new faces—and the proper ones, at that—to the
group.
