My Requests: Aston Villa DOF Monchi Highlights Elevated Individual Standards

Last summer, Monchi departed his position as director of football at Sevilla when Aston Villa reached an agreement to acquire the Spaniard from the La Liga team.
Aston Villa is having a fantastic season thanks to the sports director of Villa helping Unai Emery assemble a stronger team.

Although Monchi said he had a very tough two years with the Spanish group, he believes they at least had something to be happy about.

The director of football at Aston Villa maintains that when it comes to expectations, nobody has higher standards than he does.

“The past two years in Sevilla have been extremely challenging, with demands that have already become an issue,” Monchi told the daily Marca in Spanish.
“My demands are valid, and I have no competition when it comes to making demands of myself.

“There were two years when things did not go as planned, but as I always say, we qualified for the Champions League in the penultimate season and won a trophy in the last one—Sevilla does not win a trophy every two days.”
With Aston Villa aiming for a surprising top four finish, Monchi will probably be working hard throughout the current transfer window to attempt to deliver for Emery.
