Michy Batshuayi set for Rangers transfer
talks as one-time £33m striker emerges as January target
According to reports, Rangers is aiming
for a spectacular move for Michy
Batshuayi, a goal machine from Belgium.
The Scottish Sun claims that former
Chelsea forward Micheal Batshuayi has
surfaced as a viable alternative for
Philippe Clement, who is eager to expand
his attacking options. The 30-year-old is
reportedly scheduled to have talks with
the Light Blues over the next 24 hours
regarding the prospect of enticing him to
Glasgow on a short-term contract.
The Germans are reportedly among
several teams interested in a loan
arrangement, including Everton, as
Batshuayi is expected to depart
Fenerbahce after failing to reach an
agreement on a new contract with the
Turkish powerhouse. For Rangers to win
the title and have Batshuayi as their star
player would be a huge coup.
After establishing himself at Standard
Liege and Marseille, Batshuayi—who has
27 goals in 54 appearances for Belgium—
won an incredible £33 million transfer to
Chelsea in 2016. In addition to scoring 25
goals for the Stamford Bridge team, he
had loan stints at Valencia, Crystal
Palace, Borussia Dortmund, and Besiktas.
After eight goals this season for
Fenerbahce, the striker may be about to
make the dramatic move to Scotland to
join Fabio Silva at the head of Rangers’
championship challenge.
