Rangers vs. Celtics away supporter ban theory: Scott Brown assigns blame to one club
According to Scott Brown, Rangers’ decision to throw their toys out of the pram during Celtic’s domination in the derby is what led to the Old Firm away ban.
In 2018, the Gers took a radical step to reduce the regular visitor allocation for Glasgow derbies from 7000 to less
than 700. Before, the Hoops occupied the whole Broomloan Stand, while the Light Blues were given a sizable portion
of the Lisbon Lions stand at Parkhead.
However, Ibrox executives chose to reduce the allotment six years prior, during which Celtic was stomping to
decisive wins in Govan, capped by a historic 5-1 triumph in 2017. The owners of Hoops are still eager to bring back
the customary setup, but Rangers are not giving up, and there is currently a standoff between the two teams.
As a result, away fans have been prohibited from attending the previous four derby league matches. Celtic has also
refused to accept tickets for the corner at Ibrox and has refused to let Rangers supporters enter Parkhead due to
safety concerns. Although Brown, the former captain of the Hoops, thinks the current conflict is unfortunate, he
insists there is only one team at fault.
He stated: “The Rangers and Celtics games are always difficult because the fan base has dwindled.” You have to visit

Brown, nevertheless, is certain that there remains a significant talent differential between the two opponents
