Rangers are up against Granada and Sevilla in La Liga as they want to sign Brighton midfielder Steven Alzate.

The 25-year-old Colombian international, who was born in England,

was first connected to the Gers last week as Philippe Clement attempts to bolster his first team roster.

Alzate’s contract expires in the summer,

so initial optimism over a possible trade was dampened by rumours that

Philippe Clement wasn’t now considering a move.

According to the most recent sources,

Rangers is not the only team showing interest in the midfield player,

who is presently on loan at Standard Liege.

Rangers will compete with Steven Alzate.

Journalist Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider said that Granada, Sevilla,

and Rangers are all interested in signing Steven Alzate in January.

The midfielder is reportedly set to return within the next ten days,

having returned to the AMEX to receive treatment for an injury.

Rangers are therefore keeping a close eye on the player’s circumstances as

they consider making a move for the midfield star in January.

The player may also receive an opportunity to play in La Liga from Sevilla or Granada.

As things stand, this is a developing scenario that fans should monitor.

Ibrox transfer hunt continues

As Philippe Clement attempts to add fresh players,

Steven Alzate is one of eleven players who have already been linked to Rangers during the summer season.

This January, the Belgian manager brought in Wolves attacker Fabio Silva on loan,

and in the days and weeks to come, further acquisitions are anticipated.

However, the Rangers are keeping quiet about any incomings,

with hardly a word coming out of the Ibrox scouting department this winter.

This season, Rangers’ midfield has been severely damaged by injuries.

Steven Alzate may be able to enter the game later on and provide the team more alternatives.
