Following his summer 2020 transfer from Porto to Wolves for a then-club-record amount of approximately £35.6

million, Silva spent the previous season on loan at both Anderlecht and PSV Eindhoven.

Now, he’s on loan at Ibrox, where Philippe Clement wants to increase his offensive options ahead of a busy league,

cup, and European calendar.

Boyd feels Silva’s arrival will at the very least assist to build confidence in the final third,

even though he’s not sure

if Silva will be the ideal match for the current Rangers squad.

When asked if the 21-year-old was a wise acquisition, he responded,

“I really don’t know,” to Sky Sports. He was undoubtedly a wonderkid, and so far his loans at PSV and Anderlecht

have gone well.

“I believe it’s a chance for him to enter and provide a performance. However, I have the impression that Rangers

need someone who can seize the central position and declare it as their own, given the awful performance we saw

from Dessers against Celtic.

“Is that man Fabio Silva? He may not be a clear-cut number nine, in my opinion. It’s evident that Danilo is gone.

Does Rangers need to get a goal striker with experience? I would if it were me.”

Boyd believes Hearts skipper Lawrence Shankland would be a useful acquisition, despite the fact that the team has

been widely linked to Rangers in recent weeks.

“Looking at it, we’re pretty quick to dismiss players in this league sometimes,” the speaker continued. He has

played a long and meaningful role in this league, contributing goals to it.

Personally, I wouldn’t object to it. Considering how much the Rangers spent during the summer.

If you had spent that money on Lawrence Shankland, would you have received a higher return? Most likely, you would.
