Reported target for Rangers and Celtic has already pledged loyalty to one Old Firm team.

Scott McKenna previously pledged loyalty to a certain faction within the Old Firm.

While rumors of Scott McKenna being linked to Rangers persist, the Nottingham Forest defender has already disclosed that he was up as a Celtics supporter.

The 27-year-old Scotland international center defender McKenna, who is out of favor at the City Ground, has been

linked to both Old Firm teams.

Rangers is the Scottish team that now appears to have the best chance of signing the former Aberdeen player, as

Celtic has already informed journalists that they are not in the running.

But as the transfer rumors swirl this January, Rangers fans may find something interesting in Scott McKenna’s

remarks regarding his father, a Celtics supporter.

In a February 2020 interview with the Scotsman, Scott McKenna revealed his loyalty to Glasgow’s green and white side.

Then playing in the Scottish Premiership for Aberdeen, this occurred only a few months after the defender was allegedly the target of a £5 million bid from his childhood team.

“My father owned Celtic season tickets,” McKenna explains. “During the period when Celtic was winning in Europe, I

attended a couple of their games. “I was present when Alan Thompson scored against Barcelona, as I recall. I used to

really enjoy seeing a Parkhead midweek game under the lights.

“Obviously, I want Aberdeen to win when you play for Aberdeen against Celtic. When you get professional and make

it your career, you can no longer support Celtic. You wish Aberdeen the best because you play for them.

If the Rangers transfer rumors come to pass this winter, we question if the defender would make the same statement.

Alarm bells for Rangers over the defender

Instead of these statements, Ibrox supporters may be feeling a little uneasy because the team hasn’t exactly been playing well with Celtic fan players in their lineup lately.

Fans of the Old Firm have historically supported their rival team, but with Rangers’ recent troubles, the Ibrox side

has been forced to settle with some dubious characters.

The most notable being Michael O’Halloran, a £450k transfer from St Johnstone who was an abomination in

Rangers blue until being spotted in the stands during a Celtic match in 2018 while remaining on the roster at Ibrox.

Liam Burt, a graduate of the Rangers Academy, infuriated Ibrox supporters after switching to Celtic—a move that ultimately failed for the playmaker.

It’s a common belief that Rangers supporters and Celtics fans don’t get along, so these historic remarks by Scott McKenna won’t sit well in Ibrox circles.

While McKenna is rumored to have other alternatives, Philippe Clement would choose to avoid any turmoil and seek elsewhere.

This weekend marked the center-back’s first appearance back in the Nottingham Forest lineup in four months.
