Giovanni van Bronckhorst, the former manager of Rangers,

feels a little betrayed by Besiktas’ decision to not hire him after all.

The Rangers bench has been hard to fill since Steven Gerrard’s 2021 transfer to Aston Villa.

Fans were given hope for an exciting era when Giovanni van Bronckhorst

took over and led Rangers to the Europa League final.

That was unbuildable, and Michael Beale replaced Van Bronckhorst a little over a year after he left.

After a year, Beale faced comparable issues and was fired by Rangers

when they decided to pursue Philippe Clement once more.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst, the former manager of the Rangers, left for Besiktas

While Clement has had a fantastic start to his Rangers career and optimism is high once more,

his predecessors’ outcomes are less clear.

After been hired by Sunderland in December to take over for former Celtic manager Tony Mowbray,

Beale is already back at work.

However, Van Bronckhorst is still unemployed,

and some Rangers supporters will be perplexed as to why Beale was able to find employment before the Dutchman.

Only a few days ago, we reported on rumours that Van Bronckhorst was close to taking over as manager of Besiktas.

Van Bronckhorst, however, has been somewhat abandoned at the altar since Besiktas has now officially announced Fernando Santos’ hiring in his place.

Due to Besiktas’ appointment of former Portugal manager Santos,

Van Bronckhorst will continue to look for a managerial position.

This season, the Beşiktaş position has been a revolving door,

so it’s possible that Van Bronckhorst got a fairly fortunate escape.

Senol Gunes began the season but quit in October. Burak Yilmaz took over as interim manager in October,

and after being appointed in November, Riza Calimbay lasted just seven games.

As the fourth manager of Besiktas this season,

Santos will undoubtedly have challenges leading the Turkish powerhouses.

After quitting Rangers, Van Bronckhorst will have to wait for another managerial opportunity as he has lost out on the position.
