It goes without saying that Miles McBride deserves a chance, but someone has to be able to steady the ship in choppy waters. McBride is inexperienced, but he’s worth a look. The obvious interest in Brogdon stems in large part from his experience.
However, Brogdon lacks the allure of a Murray, Donovan Mitchell, etc. His style of play is quite conventional. His influence is not as evident.
However, compared to what New York would have to give up, he would be significantly less expensive, and his contract is set to expire after the following season.
What would New York be forced to forfeit?
It’s actually kind of hard to estimate that. The Blazers are in the early phases of a rebuild, as was already established, and the Knicks don’t have many players that match that kind of schedule. Thus, it would most likely be one or two draft picks.
Which one, though? The 2024 Dallas Mavericks protected first-round pick, 2024 Washington Wizards protected first-round pick, 2024 Detroit Pistons protected first-round pick, and Milwaukee Bucks 2025 protected first-round pick are all owned by the Knicks.
