Ex-Rangers player wants to join Liverpool as Celtics’ exit is official
Previous Scotland and Rangers striker Kenny
Miller thinks his previous team ought to try to
sign former Dundee loan sensation Owen Beck.
The August transfer to Dens Park, which was
anticipated to be a season-long loan, saw the
young Liverpool player make 22 appearances
across all competitions. But last week, the
massive English Premier League team called up
the defender.
Jurgen Klopp, the manager of the Reds, said of
Beck’s Dundee loan: “It was good. We always
thought highly of Owen, so it was surprising that
it didn’t work out given our perception of him,
but that’s how things operate, especially with
young boys who are sent away from home and
stuff like this. Owen had two really challenging
loan spells.”
Although injuries to Andrew Robertson and
Kostas Tsimikas prompted Beck’s homecoming,
there has been discussion that the Wales
Under-21 left-back could be let to leave Anfield
once more.
Miller has stated that if Rangers made a bid, they
would be making a “terrific signing.”
“Don’t get me wrong, I would jump at the chance
to sign Owen Beck from Liverpool, who has
really impressed me while on loan at Dundee,”
he said to The Daily Record.
If he is free to sign, he would be a great addition.
I would also do it right now in order to enter
before someone else does.
Following the return of Celtic defender Nat
Phillips to Merseyside on loan last year, Beck was
not the only Liverpool player called up to Anfield.
The 26-year-old center back, who has made eight
appearances for Brendan Rodgers’ team in all
competitions, will stay at Anfield until the end of
the month, at which point his future will be
decided with certainty. Following his departure,
Phillips thanked Celtic’s fans on social media and
wished them luck for the rest of the campaign.
Phillips said the following on Instagram:
“Representing @celticfc and their supporters was
an honor and a pleasure. I’m wishing the club’s
members the best of luck for the remainder of
the season and beyond.”
