In Week 18, neither the Cleveland Browns nor the Cincinnati Bengals’ support base were particularly invested in the outcome of the game.

While some people still enjoy humiliating their in-state competitors,

the game has lost all meaning generally.

The Bengals players realized this was a devastating loss.

They saw very little success in the 24-3 rout as Tee Higgins finished with zero receptions and Joe Burrow had an appalling 82 yards of passing.

While Deshaun Watson’s rushing score was among the more than 200 yards of yardage the Bengals’ defense gave up,

overall the defense did a good job stopping the opposition.

It was evident by the end of the game that the defense could no longer win this one.

The Watson touchdown pass to Harrison Bryant put the icing on the coffin, and they were gassed out.

The Cleveland Browns’ social media account, interestingly,

chose to employ a taunt that Cleveland Brown fans frequently direct at Cincinnati fans: “The Bengals are not an Ohio team, they are from Kentucky!”

The Bengals facilities do border the State of Kentucky but are squarely within Ohio state lines.

We can’t say the same for the Cincinnati Airport which is about 15 minutes into Kentucky.

Although the Bengals’ facilities are entirely inside Ohio state borders,

they do border Kentucky.

About fifteen minutes into Kentucky comes the Cincinnati Airport,

about which we cannot say the same.

Fortunately, the season is long, and in a few weeks,

maybe, we won’t remember anything about this game.

For the time being, though, the Browns have once again shown that they know how to beat Cincinnati,

and they won’t stop talking trash until both teams play one more in the regular season finale in 2023.
