According to Italian reports, Verona has agreed to pay £3 million for Yilmaz.

With Borna Barisic’s contract expiring in the summer, Philippe Clement is eager to recruit a new left defender during

this transfer window.

There have been rumors that the Ibrox team is interested in signing Josh Doig, a former Hibernian defender who is

currently a Verona player.

However, according to this most recent source, there is less chance that Doig will go to Yilmaz in the other direction.

It is thought that Torino is in the lead to recruit the 21-year-old Scottish talent. They reportedly made Verona an

offer for Doig that included cash and player. They have put up a bid that includes Gvidas Gineitis, a sell-on clause,

and £3.5 million plus add-ons.

Doig, who is under contract with Verona until 2026, is reportedly also being considered by Leeds United and Monza.

In 2021, Doig moved to Serie A while earning £3 million from Hibs.

Yilmaz seems to be Doig’s replacement, as he seems likely to leave within this window.

As a replacement for Yilmaz, this report suggests that Clement might now focus on FC Twente full-back Gijs Smal.
