Steelers Rule Out Star Defender Before Ravens Game
Steelers Rule Out Star Defender Before
Ravens Game PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers
announced that quarterback Mitch
Trubisky, offensive tackle Dylan Cook,
cornerback Darius Rush, inside
linebacker Blake Martinez, and safeties
Minkah Fitzpatrick (knee) and Trenton
Thompson (neck) will not play in Week
18 against the Baltimore Ravens. The
announcement came with both good and bad injury news.
Fitzpatrick and Thompson’s ailments will
prevent them from playing in their third
game. They were ruled out in Weeks 16
and 17, having left the game in Week 15
against the Indianapolis Colts. They
trained enough this week to go into the
weekend with a dubious tag, but
Pittsburgh will keep both out of action in the season finale.
The Steelers will start Eric Rowe and
Patrick Peterson at safety in their place,
with Miles Killebrew and Elijah Riley
providing depth. Elandon Roberts’
comeback provided the Steelers with
some encouraging injury news. Roberts
returned to practice this week after
missing last week due to a pectoral issue.
Despite being marked as dubious, he
informed reporters he planned to play.
He’ll probably start at inside linebacker next to Myles Jack.
Trubisky will wear game attire even
though he is not playing. As the Steelers’
third quarterback, he will be available to
play should Kenny Pickett and Mason
Rudolph be unable to complete the game.
