Philippe Clement Identified Player As Loan Option For Rangers, Gers Were Keen
According to the Athletic, Rangers manager Philippe Clement recognised Owen Beck,
a defender for Liverpool, as a player who might join on loan and contribute right away.
Following a strong first half of the season on loan at Scottish Premiership club Dundee,
Beck has been called up by Liverpool.
The defender is anticipated to remain at Anfield and fight for the left-back position given that Andrew Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas are injured for Liverpool.
If Beck had wanted to go on another loan term, he would have had plenty of possibilities, and Rangers were one of them.
Gers manager Clement reportedly obtained input during the team’s 5-0 victory at Dens Park,
and used that information to identify Beck as a loan target who might arrive at Ibrox and contribute significantly right away.
Though Beck might have found that move appealing, it is unlikely to happen now since Rangers are competing for the title with Celtic and are still in the Europa League.
Rangers are concerned about their options at left back.
This season, Borna Barisic has missed a lot of games, and his backup, Ridvan Yilmaz, hasn’t done well.
It will be interesting to see if Rangers give Beck another look in the summer.
