Finn Azaz, an offensive midfielder from Aston Villa, has signed a contract with Middlesbrough for an unknown sum.

With the club, the 23-year-old has committed to a four-and-a-half year contract.

Azaz has almost 150 career matches and 25 goals under his belt, which gives him a substantial amount of experience for his age.

Azaz, a graduate of the West Brom Academy, played on loan at Cheltenham for the 2020–21 season before coming to Aston Villa the following summer.

He added to his senior experience with a loan stint at Newport, where he scored seven goals in forty-five games.

Most recently, he was a player for Plymouth Argyle, where he made 67 appearances and scored fifteen goals, helping the team win promotion from League One the previous year.

The head coach of Boro, Michael Carrick, expressed his happiness with the new signing. “I’m thrilled to welcome Finn to the team,” Carrick exclaimed. “He’s an exciting player who already comes with good experience.”

Despite his enthusiasm, Azaz will not be participating in the Emirates FA Cup match against Aston Villa, his old team. Instead, he will be wearing the number 20 shirt for Boro.

Reflecting on his move, Azaz shared his positive impressions of the club with mfc.co.uk.

“From the get-go, the club had obviously done their due diligence on me,” he remarked.

Azaz felt a strong sense of fit with the team, citing productive conversations with the manager, staff, and players as key influences in his decision to join Middlesbrough, concluding it felt like “the perfect fit.”
