Packers’ X-Factor Revealed for Must-Win Game vs. Bears

For the Green Bay Packers on Sunday afternoon, the stakes are quite evident.
Gain and in.
The Packers will return to the postseason for the first time since 2021 and quarterback Jordan Love’s first postseason berth of his career if they can handle business against the division rival Chicago Bears.

One of the players with a pivotal role in keeping Love upright in Sunday’s must-win showdown is right tackle  Zack Tom was identified as the Packers’ ‘X-factor’ for Sunday’s game by ESPN’s Seth Walder.

Zach Tom, a right tackle for the Packers, writes Walder.

“His statistics indicate he’s up for the assignment, but stopping Bears defensive end Montez Sweat will be his main task. Tom’s pass block victory percentage this season places him 18th out of 69 tackles.

Tom will face a formidable opponent in Sweat, who comes into Week 18 with 6.5 sacks.

Tom has only allowed two sacks this season with 33 pressures in 631 pass-protection snaps.

If Tom holds serve, it could go a long way towards  love repeating his strong performance in the season-opener against the Bears, in which he passed for 245 yards and three touchdowns.

If  love can replicate his success against the Bears earlier this season, it will go a long way towards the Packers returning to the postseason.

Luke Musgrave Returning for the Packers vs. Bears?

Although Love’s safety in the pocket may depend on Tom, the 25-year-old quarterback may also use one of his passing game weapons to return to the field for Sunday’s game.

It was disclosed on Thursday by Packers head coach Matt LaFleur that he thinks it is “realistic” that rookie tight end Luke Musgrave will return for Week 18.
