The talkSPORT reporter stated in an interview with GiveMeSport on Monday, January 8,

that he has heard from a trustworthy source that both Old Firm teams hope to finalise a deal for the Scotland international this month.

He continued by saying that while the 27-year-old’s camp did not refute reports that the centre back and former Forest manager Steve Cooper had a falling out,

the player has not returned to the team under Nuno Espirito Santo and appears ready to quit the City Ground.

According to Crook, “Celtic look like favourites to sign McKenna.”

According to a very trustworthy source, he is being targeted by both major Scottish clubs.

When Cooper’s reign was coming to an end, he wasn’t performing at Forest.

Rumours of a falling out with Cooper were never refuted by his camp,

but he hasn’t returned under Nuno.

“I believe he’s currently not fast enough for the Premier League,

so perhaps he would benefit from a move to the Scottish Premiership.”

Persuasion power

Rangers and Celtic appear to be vying for a player’s signature once more,

having previously expressed interest in Fabio Silva.

The Gers will need to rely on Philippe Clement’s ability to persuade once more,

even if the Hoops are now thought to be the favourites.

It is claimed that Clement was instrumental in getting the Portuguese forward to go to Ibrox.

After losing favour at the City Ground and making just five appearances in the Premier League this season,

the last being against Burnley in September—McKinna’s tenure at Forest is certain to end this month.

The Scottish player made 19 starts in the Premier League last season,

and he would have made more if he hadn’t been injured.

This shows that he is more than capable of joining the Light Blues in the SPFL and contributing to their success.

Either Old Firm team that doesn’t succeed in acquiring the centre back would suffer a great deal,

therefore they will both be working hard to convince him that joining Glasgow will allow him to win more trophies.
