ASTON VILLA MAKES CHOICE REGARDING LEON BAILEY CONTRACT
HITC Football has learned that Aston Villa is prepared to offer star attacker Leon Bailey a new and better contract.
The Jamaican forward has been a revelation at Villa Park, leading Unai Emery’s Aston Villa to six goals and five
assists in the Premier League this season.
The quick forward had a slow start to life in the Midlands after joining the team in the summer of 2021 from Bayer
Leverkusen, but this season Bailey has blossomed as Emery’s team looks to be in the title game. Given his
outstanding play this season for Villa, it should come as no surprise that they are eager to sign the forward to a new,
long-term contract.
Bailey impressed Villa
The forward only has 18 months left on his current contract with the team, but according to insiders, Villa has made
it very apparent to Bailey and his representation that they want to start the process of discussing a new contract in
the new year. The club is eager to lock him down to a new contract because, naturally, Villa does not want to take the
chance of having the attacker enter the final year of his agreement in the summer of 2025.
As previously said, Bailey has had a fantastic campaign, and Emery is thrilled with his work, giving the go-ahead to
begin negotiations with the club’s football president Monchi, who is attempting to mediate the deal.
Bailey’s outstanding performances
Given how much the forward has improved this season, it makes sense that Villa is eager to sign him to a new
contract. If the Midlands team had not initiated contact with the forward, there is a chance that other Premier
League and European teams would have noticed and might have made the 25-year-old an offer of their own.
With Villa rising from strength to strength in the league right now, sticking with Emery is undoubtedly the right
move.
For Bailey, staying longer at Villa Park makes perfect sense.
