According to Simon Jones, Liverpool has rejected Rangers’ request to sign defender Owen Beck during the January transfer window.

According to Tony Docherty, manager of Dundee United,

where the defender has played for the first half of the season,

the defender has performed “exceptionally well” and the Gers have approached him about signing.

The Daily Mail journalist made this revelation in his Window Watch column on January 4, page 65.

After being returned from his loan at the Scottish Premiership team,

Beck is needed as a left-back backup for Andrew Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas,

but Liverpool has rejected an offer.

Clearly stated intentions

At Ibrox, it will undoubtedly be disappointing if a player they were hoping to add right away to Philippe Clement’s starting lineup is unavailable.

Given his age profile and incredible potential, Beck would have been a compelling proposal for Rangers,

who are clearly looking to add a new left-back during the January transfer window.

It appears like Liverpool has made their choice, thus Clement and Nils Koppen will need to explore elsewhere for a left-back target.

Fortunately, they have already found Fredrik Oppegard to be an intriguing option.

None of these circumstances, meanwhile, bode well for Borna Barisic and Ridvan Yilmaz at Ibrox,

and it appears Clement already has plans to replace one of them.

Since joining the team in 2022, Yilmaz has been too inconsistent and hasn’t quite made an impression,

while Barisic’s contract expires in the summer and his immediate future is now very much in doubt.

The Gers are definitely keeping a close eye on possible targets, but Beck regrettably appears to be beyond of reach.
