An image of the proposed new Aston Villa badge appears online
The design was filed as a trademark with the UK government last month, marking Villa’s second new crest in as
many seasons.
Although it hasn’t been formally revealed yet, it’s believed to be the design that was shown at a recent fan advisory
board (FAB) meeting for the club. Following this, FAB members got in touch with the Football Association to voice
their worries that the club hasn’t conducted enough consultation.
The round crest seen on this season’s kits will be replaced by the new shield-shaped badge, which has a yellow lion
and the club’s name printed out in full.

After more than 21,000 supporters voted in favor of that design in November 2022, Chris Heck, the new president of
business operations at Villa, essentially put it on trial. The team continued to use the previous shield image on its
social platforms and in the vicinity of Villa Park.
Although 16,000 fans participated in an online survey to choose the club’s latest design, which they hope to
implement for the upcoming season, Villa’s FAB does not think it was sufficient in accordance with FA regulations.
Clubs must conduct a “thorough and extensive consultation process” in accordance with regulations that were
enacted last year to protect history, and they must also be able to show that the majority of supporters support the
proposed modifications.
The FA has the authority to require a club to return to a former badge if it is determined that they have violated the
rules. For their part, Villa assert that the FA was consulted at every stage of the procedure.
