Aston Villa closing in on signing Cyril Ngonge

Aston Villa has reportedly shown interest in Cyril Ngonge during the past few weeks,

according to a report published by the Italian publication Tutto Mercato Web.

Additionally, the Villans have finalized the deal to sign the 23-year-old winger from Hellas Verona.

The Midlands team made a verbal offer of €10 million,

which the Serie A team accepted.

Cyril Ngonge is who?

Following his January 2023 arrival at Hellas Verona FC Groningen,

Cyril Ngonge has advanced significantly.

Over the past 12 months,

the Belgian winger has emerged as one of Serie A’s most underappreciated players.

And despite his team’s hot and cold play,

he has had a strong 2023–24 campaign thus far.

The Mastiffs are battling to avoid being demoted.

Ngonge, though, has left his mark in 17 Serie A outings,

with two assists and five goals.

Meanwhile, the 23-year-old’s talents for Hellas Verona have drawn interest from other prestigious teams,

including Aston Villa.

Under Unai Emery’s guidance,

the Villans have grown stronger than ever.

The Midlands team is now a strong dark horse to win the Premier League

thanks to the management of Spain.

Emery has achieved this by revitalizing the Aston Villa offense since taking over.

To enable the other Aston Villa attackers to share the weight with the England international,

Emery will need to relieve Ollie Watkins of the responsibility for scoring goals.

Thus, it should come as no surprise that the Villans

wish to add to their attacking group during the January transfer window,

with Cyril Ngonge appearing to be a strong candidate.

Hellas Verona and Aston Villa moved quickly to intensify their negotiations,

as the two teams have already reached an understanding over a potential transfer.

This month, Aston Villa will spend €10 million to acquire the 23-year-old winger from Serie A.

Aston Villa’s offer has been orally accepted by the Mastiffs.

So, the agreement is still subject to change.

However, Cyril Ngonge’s contract with Hellas Verona is probably coming to an end this month,

and he may transfer to Villa Park.
