Tuesday night, Joel Embiid scored 31 points and finished with a triple-double in three quarters as the Sixers defeated the Bulls.

Tuesday night’s 110-97 victory over the Chicago Bulls helped the Sixers get back on track.

Joel Embiid, who missed the previous four games, scored 31 points on 50% shooting in his first game back. He finished with 10 assists and 15 rebounds to complete the triple-double.

Tyrese Maxey finished with 21 points and five assists while shooting 50% from the field. With 20 points on 9 of 13 shots from the field, Tobias Harris also had a productive night as the Sixers led from start to finish.

Some reflections at the buzzer.

Initial Quarter

De’Anthony Melton was out on Tuesday, but Nicolas Batum and Kelly Oubre Jr. both got started. In the first quarter, Oubre was fairly active. He scored seven of the Sixers’ first 14 points and grabbed a steal.

For the past week or two, Oubre has shot the ball well in every other game. Following his 0–5 performance from downtown on Saturday, he made his first two triples tonight.

After a few days off and the return of the league’s MVP, Philly’s offense appeared to be significantly different.

They achieved their goals by shooting 67% from the field. The Bulls defense was caught off guard as Philly made seven of their first 11 shots at three-point range, shooting the lights out.

It’s practically hard to keep up with that kind of shooting start, and the Bulls’ offense was definitely not up to it. While the rest of his team shot 3-of-21 from the field, DeMar DeRozan scored 10 points in the first quarter.

There were a few changes made to the rotation early on, but some guys were not in tonight. Marcus Morris, Sr. had been playing in this position for over a month, but Danuel House, Jr. was the first substitute off the bench. Jaden Springer and Morris both checked in at the end of the quarter.

Quarter Two

Marcus Morris as Maxey’s backup in these units might not be the best choice, but that doesn’t mean this team needs to trade for another ball handler.

He has not converted many possessions, but he has converted many into slow midrange post-ups. The main issue is that these units are only using one of their better shots when they have a playmaker on the court.

Although Springer has had to compete for little playing time this season, it seemed like every play he has made has been featured on SportsCenter. In transition, he delivered another powerful blow, flying back to deny Ayo Dosunmo.

Embiid led the team in shot attempts during the first half, so quiet isn’t the best way to characterize it, but he finished with a very carefree 22 points. With a heavy diet of fadeaways, he shot 7 out of 10 on his two-point tries, dazzling in the midrange. Philly

increased their lead at the half to 31.

Quarter Three

The Sixers acquired Tobias Harris in his more snappy decision-making form. He was either driving straight to the hoop or launching a three-point shot every time he made contact with the ball. It’s evident that he is not particularly comfortable doing it, even when he performs well at it. In an attempt to quickly get a three-pointer, he had a nasty airball from the corner.

When Andre Drummond went to the free throw line, the Wells Fargo Center made the sound a football crowd makes when they see the receiver get open before the quarterback.

They demanded their complimentary nuggets because they thought there was blood in the water. Drummond was first to refuse to give the throng their chicken

Throughout the quarter, he had a few “Shaq’tin a fool” moments. After catching his own airball, he was called for a travel and, a few minutes later, was rim-blocked trying to dunk.

To be honest, the squad didn’t really need Maxey for much of anything this game, thus he didn’t have much to do. However, he had a terrific third quarter, launching himself free for a few potent three-pointers.

With this play, he also expanded his collection of rim finishes highlight reels.

Embiid didn’t make a field goal until over two minutes remained in the third quarter, so it was a struggle to earn him eight points. He started to struggle from the field as well, and he also missed three free throws in the

quarter.
Not only that, but he was also trying to finish with a triple-double by getting his tenth assist.

With a superb no-look ball to Harris in the dunker position, he did indeed pick up his tenth assist. With one second remaining in the quarter, he scored his 30th point, and the Sixers had a 26-point lead after three.

Quarter Four

In this game, Springer’s two offensive rebounds were quite outstanding. In the first half, he managed to wrestle one away from Drummond and locate Danuel House Jr. for the bucket.

In the fourth, he had another, making the put-back while still spinning in the air after seizing the board. The child only draws attention to himself.

Midway through the quarter, Ricky Council IV arrived, making his NBA debut.

Mo Bamba should give him a drink because Bamba’s offensive interference cost him his first basket. To the joy of the crowd, Kenneth Lofton Jr. also received a few minutes of running time.
The Sixers will play the New York Knicks at 7:30 p.m. ET on Friday when they return to action at home.
