The American had been at the top for some time, but in 2023 he truly cemented his position.

He finished at number 10 but spent the entire year in the Top 10, peaking at number 5 in the world.

Fritz didn’t look good in Australia either, following some poor showings at the World Tennis League in Dubai.

He was a member of the squad that won the competition the previous year,

but this time around, the USA Team was unable to perform at the same level and was eliminated from the competition before it even reached the elimination round.

They will not defend their trophy, and Fritz’s status in the Top 10 will be lost if they lose points.

American is expected to fall out of the Top 10 for the first time in more than a year.

Fritz participated in two United Cup matches; he defeated Cameron Norrie in the opening tie but fell short against Alex de Minaur in the second.

Due to their match win-loss record, the team eventually missed out on qualification as they finished second behind China in the ranking of the second-placed teams.

China’s 4-2 record against their 3-3 record proved to be their undoing.

The US would have defeated Australia and won the group if Fritz had prevailed in that match.

It’s regrettable that the loss also cost him the rating because he appeared to be the top American guy of the previous year.

He hasn’t had a great start to 2024, but we’ll see how he performs in Melbourne.

He’s had a strong event overall, and a strong finish might propel him back into the Top 10.
